The Annual Summer Outing will
be on Thursday 6th August 2009, going to Coleraine/Portrush.
The bus will be in Feeny at 10.15 am leaving
at 10.30am sharp. Dinner will be in The Inn
on the Coast Portrush, served at 5.30pm, coming
home immediately afterwards.
Anyone interested in going, please give your
name to any member of SVDP on or before Monday
3rd August 2009, as numbers for meals have to
be confirmed on that date.
LEARMOUNT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP
– It is planned to run the Certificate
in Essential Skills Level 1 7 2 in Literacy
at the Learmount Community Centre in September
2009 in conjunction with the Northwest Regional
College. The Department of Employment and Learning
have emphasized that the Level 2 in Essential
Skills is comparable in standard with GCSE English
at Grades C or above and has encouraged businesses
and educational establishments to include Essential
Skills as alternatives to GCSE’s in job
advertisements etc. In order to secure the course
for September we need the names of interested
participants as soon as possible. Please ring
the Community Centre on 777 81881 to register;
places will be limited..

Yoga
– A new waiting list is being compiled
for the Yoga classes held on Monday and Wednesday
nights in Learmount Resource Centre. Phone 777

COMMITTEE CANCER RESEARCH U.K. The
local Committee of Cancer Research U.K. would
like to thank all those who took part in or
sponsored our recent Great Glenshane Lorry Pull
which was held on Saturday 20th June 2009. A
great total of £31,635.12 was raised.
This includes £4158.16 which was the amount
raised in the street collection held on the
same day.
